In March I had my choice of cars at Burbank airport, and got one at National via AS with just 11 eleven miles on it…a brand new car! I signed up for AutoSlash and they sent the best rate thru Priceline. Is there any disadvantage for booking thru Priceline? It could be possible that policies in other states are different, but you might want to double check your info? Or update article? Regardless, love the article. We had used other companies on previous trips but as we were flying into Salt Lake City and out of Denver we were really impressed by the quote. They don't seem to charge a one way fee as other companies do.

When researching them I found very little information and thought we'd just try our luck. They were excellent and because they are not based in the states they work through local car rentals in our case it was through Alamo.

I agree, Hertz seems very low We hired several cars from different companies, and all but one, were one ways. They added the drop off fee after you return the car.. No problems at all. We had a great time and didn't worry about the drop off fee as we didn't want to return it to the pick up city..

Be mindful of the fact that you may not be able to go on some roads at that time of the year, so plan your trip. The Interstates are cleared regularly of snow, not so the "minor" roads. I have rented from both Hertz and Avis before and have not been charged one-way fees. I find that Hertz offers some of the better cars , for example I have gotten several cars from Enterprise with roll-up windows- I didn't even know they still made cars with roll up windows anymore! Enterprise does not offer many one-way rentals. I would like to second everyone else's remarks and ensure that your quote is inclusive of all fees and you have read all the fine print.

Different facilities can have different policies, so do your research. Also, be sure that you book directly with the company- do NOT use a 3rd party vendor!
