My husband's chair could have been brought in and placed next to his seat just before the end of the performance. He could have transferred and been ready to leave before the rest of the audience. The show was spectacular, there is nothing like a Broadway musical. Saw Beautiful at the Sondheim theater and was really wowed.
The theater is very comfortable with modern restrooms and plenty of lounge seating. The show was wonderful and fit the smaller theater perfectly. These venues for a lot of terrific Broadway plays are beautiful and filled with history, but the seats, even for an average height and weight person are reminiscent of the cheapest airline economy offerings.

Not so for the Stephen Sondheim theatre. I saw "Beautiful" there, which was great; but I found myself almost distracted by the comfortable seats, ample leg room and perfect acoustics.

The theatre goes underground - Apparently they didn't have sky rights, so as a bank went in above it, they dug down. You enter at Mezzanine level and walk down to the Orchestra - One plus is the street noises you can occasionally notice in other theatres are eliminated.
While I'm a huge fan of the historical significance of Broadway theatres, I wouldn't mind seeing a few others look down in between engagements and find some room to spread out.
