The room was on the top floor under the eves and totally charming. It certainly wasn't dated or shabby as some of the reviews have suggested, and looked to have been recently redecorated. The only downside was the inability to turn off the heat, but this was resolved by opening all the windows.
The grounds and main house are beautiful and our three-course dinner in the dining room was very good, with lots of extra little special touches, including four kinds of homemade bread and dips to start, and handmade truffles served with coffee following our desert course. The breakfast was also very good, with the option of a hot breakfast as well as a buffet of various cold options. The service at both dinner and breakfast was very good, though there were some fairly long gaps between the courses at dinner.
The hotel is beautiful, from the gorgeous pannelled restaurant to the lovely lounge area, and the fantastic gardens. You really get the sense of having walked back in time. The staff were helpful and courteous. I would definitely go back again and, taking into account the deal I was able to get online, it was absolutely fantastic value for money in a relaxed and gorgeous setting. Unfortunatley we did not get the opportunity to stay. In December we booked rooms for 45 people to stay to celebrate a family event in December We contacted the hotel in November to advise final details and were told we had been relegated to the Coach House, The Manor House had been booked for a wedding party and we would not be allowed to enter the building.
We were told over the telephone the wedding party did not book until April As it was a 'Manor House' we wanted we had to find a an alternative venue. A deposit had been paid, and banked, in February but we were told we had not signed the contract. We are awaiting a satisfactory response. Join us on:.
