All of these athletes have displayed spirit, pride, and honor throughout their careers at BHS. The varsity Bulldog baseball team needed a few things to go their way last week in order to secure a spot in the playoffs. First they needed Leander Glenn to drop their Tuesday night game, and they did.

Second they needed Leander Glenn to drop their Friday night game, and they did. But unfortunately for Burnet they needed to beat Liberty Hill Friday and they were unable to get the win. That left them in a play-in situation on Saturday with Glenn and that game also went against Burnet leaving them one spot out of the playoffs.

Burnet got on the board in the top of the fourth. Reid Dalrymple led off with a single to center and made it safely to second surviving a run-down. A dropped third strike throw-out allowed Dalrymple to advance to third. In the top of the fifth Griffen Parker got things started with a single and a quick steal. A sacrifice Wilson bunt moved Parker to third, and he soon moved the Dawgs closer with a run scored on a Gilmore sacrifice to center.
The top of the fifth closed out with Burnet only tailing, , but the bottom of the inning was disastrous for the Bulldogs. Burnet had a handful of errors in the bottom half of the fifth, that along with several hits resulted in the Panthers pulling away, The Bulldogs had a few opportunities late in the game. Dalrymple sent a monster shot to the fence to lead off the top of the sixth with a double, but a strikeout with bases loaded eventually ended the top half of the inning. That set-up a must win play-in game for the fourth seed out of the district between Burnet and Leander Glenn on Saturday at noon in Liberty Hill.
Things quickly turned sour for the Dawgs. A couple of fielding errors and several left field hits left team green trailing with just one half inning played.
In their first at bat the Dawgs loaded the bases with Gilmore, Denton, and Dalrymple and no outs. Langford put one in play that resulted in a fielder choice out but earned him an RBI as Gilmore crossed home plate. The first ended with the Dawgs trailing, Burnet retired the Grizzlies one, two, three to open the second, and then took full advantage of their time at the bat.
